This place has amazing Indian food. The dining experience is a little awkward and dark but who cares when fresh amazing food comes to your table. I really hope Visalia keeps this place around. The Saag lamb (I think that's what it was..) was amazing and so was the chicken curry. Their garlic Nann was next level.

Came in for a weekday lunch and they did not disappoint. We had the whole place to ourselves and the service was friendly and helpful. We ordered the Jakob lamb and my usual butter tikka chicken. Sooooo good! We got it med spicy and it was perfect. I would highly recommend this place!

I have been trying this location out since it opened. The night Bill Burr came to town at the Fox Theatre, was my night. There is ample space, wonderful service, and good food. Delicious! We started with the Potato Samosas. They were crispy on the outside, deliciously warm, and perfect on the inside. The sauces it came with? Amazing. Then we ordered the Buter chicken with rice and the Pepper Chicken with rice. We got spicy in both levels 6 and 8. They were absolutely delicious. We also ordered Naan. I got the Bullet, and he got the garlic. Both were delicious, but the Spicy Bullet Naan won the show. All in all, this entire meal was a 10/10. The pricing? Again, amazing! I cannot wait to be back. Good job, Hungry Elephant! You are an amazing addition to our downtown.

We had a lovely meal with great service starting with four appetizers, Papadams, Samosas, Pakoras, hariyali tikka chicken along with chutney and dipping sauces and that was enough to make us full even before our main meal. All was good, though the Tikka seemed just slightly overcooked but with great flavor. For mains we had Lamb tikka Masala - very rich and creamy, and Aloo Gobi which is potato and cauliflower and was excellent and quite spicy. The menu does not have detailed descriptions, so ask your server for details about the dishes or what type of dish you are looking for and they can make a recommendation. We ended up with a lot of left overs for the next day.

It was our first time there over the weekend. The interior is marginal with decor, however it was clean. The waiters could be friendlier they were less than enthusiastic and did not check on us for more drinks. The menus were crumpled and dirty. For those of us not familiar with the food terms it would be helpful to have a description of the items on the menu. I had the curry with chicken and my husband had the lamb we also had a side of naan. THE FOOD WAS SO FRESH AND DELICIOUS!!! Definitely recommend! I hope they improve the customer service and order new & updated menus that can be cleaned.

We used to say if you want good Indian food, you have drive to Fresno. Now that the hungry Elephant is in town, we no longer have to say this. Wow. What an AMAZING MEAL. Every. Single. Item. Was. Amazing. From the cold tart mango lassi $6 to the coconut Rogan Josh $19 to the Bread Basket naan $16. Service was great as well! The older gentleman brought over a cup with a straw without even our request. The water boy was always filling our waters. We felt very pampered and happy. Thank you, hungry elephant. We are happy elephants now.

Excellent ambience, great food and very friendly staff. As vegetarians and Indians living in the US, it's difficult for us to find vegetarian food while traveling. It was a pleasant surprise to find this place that can satisfy our taste buds. We've been to hundreds of Indian restaurants, not only where we live in Southern California, but all across the US. Our expectations are always low because our primary goal is to have vegetarian food, not to expect a good ambience or a friendly service. From the greeter to the servers, everyone at Hungry Elephant was very professional, the music was instrumental and was played at a comfortable volume (not too high). Thank you owners for not playing the typical Indian song and dance numbers that most of your guests won't understand. Above all, the food was beyond our expectations - very good. And the Indian Beers are always refreshing! As a business broker who sells restaurants for a living, I will add one more aspect which gives this place 5 stars - clean restrooms. I tell everyone that if a restaurant's restroom is clean, you can be assured that the kitchen will also be clean / hygienic. Remember, that's where your food came from.

I walked into this place and surprised it's Indian food, it's good I love Indian food. Very upscale looking place. It was previously an Italian place, just opened 2 months ago to serve Indian food. Everything is shinny and new. I ordered tandoori fish and garlic naan. The fish came steamy hot. Very flavorful, a tad dry. I would probably do the chicken next time. The Naan was nice and fluffy, but the seasoning was brushed on unevenly, some pieces had none. The food came quickly but the bill did not. They only have one server, one bar tender, and 10 tables of customers. I'm sure it will improve with time. Overall an enjoyable experience and the price is reasonable.

First time at the Hungry Elephant and I will definitely be back. I love what they have done with the place, well designed and comfortable. We had a nice window seat to people watch. They have a full bar with stools if you just need a nice cocktail. Everything we tried was very tasty, and you can choose the level of spice, mild, medium, and spicy. We ordered medium and spicy and neither was too spicy for me.
